Clifton Record Tribune launches new website offering click-of-a-button news at your fingertips
In this digital day and age, individuals receive most of their information on their phones or tablets.
Understanding that a weekly newspaper needs a website to eliminate the delay of waiting for the print edition to arrive, the Clifton Record Tribune will now have the capacity for instant accessibility and improved real-time reporting on desktop computers, tablets and phones.
Striving to expand its reach far beyond local print circulation limits, the Clifton Record Tribune launched its new website at 6 a.m. Thursday, June 18 with the domain http://www.CliftonRecordTribune.com. For a limited time this summer, the website will be accessible totally free of charge. But this fall, only paid subscribers to the newspaper will be able to access all content provided.
In addition, Southern Cross Creative – the parent company home for the Clifton Record Tribune, Brett Voss’ The Sports Buzz, Chisholm Country magazine and River Run Video Productions – will share articles published in the newspaper and magazine online, using its various social media groups, which include Bosque County Breaking News & Information and Bosque County Area Events & Entertainment on Facebook.
Launching the website will allow the Clifton Record Tribune – the only weekly newspaper of legal record in Bosque County – to better serve the small towns and the surrounding rural areas as the civic and cultural heartbeat by providing hyper-local reporting on municipal governance, school boards and local businesses that larger media services in the Heart of Texas region overlook.
While actively preserving local history and fostering grassroots civic engagement, the Clifton Record Tribune works to be a civic watchdog for local accountability and transparency. By attending school board, city council and county meetings, the publication ensures the public receives information on how local tax dollars are spent and holding officials accountable.
The newspaper also serves as the legal, verified platform for publishing zoning changes, public hearings and civic proceedings, keeping the public informed on community development.
And of course, the staff provides hyper-local information or “news you can use,” by covering the stories that impact daily rural life, such as local agricultural updates, local event schedules and high school sports recaps. In the process, the newspaper highlights milestones and community pride by celebrating local successes.
Now, the website will provide a vehicle to disseminate that information to our readers in a timely and immediate manner, providing more complete coverage while utilizing the platform to display rich multimedia, including embedded video news reports and highlights, photo galleries, interactive graphics, audio and expanded articles to bring stories to life in ways the newspaper simply cannot.
And when necessary, the website will allow the Clifton Record Tribune to break news as it happens, keeping readers informed without waiting for the next week’s edition.
Of course, social media sharing will prove to be a game-changer, making published articles highly sharable online, increasing the likelihood of important stories going viral and organically growing the newspaper’s audience. And in the process, the expanded reach will prove beneficial and valuable to advertisers as well.
For the next six weeks, the website will be available to all readers absolutely free of charge. Starting Aug. 1, all subscribers to the print and digital newspaper will also receive access to the website for no additional charge.
The Clifton Record Tribune’s new subscription rates will be as follows: Digital newspaper and website – $48 annually; Print newspaper (digital & website included) – $62.50 annually.
Through the website, the Clifton Record Tribune will offer the opportunity for search and retrieval with a robust, searchable archive, making it effortless to find past articles.
By doing so, the newspaper will truly act as a physical and digital historical time capsule, documenting the evolution of the local area, weaving the social fabric of Bosque County together, creating a shared sense of place and belonging for residents and chronicling its journey over generations.
